Le service de la formation continue de l’UPF propose à la rentrée de septembre une formation de 30 heures d’initiation à la langue française. 

Sa progression permet d’engager graduellement des conversations liées à des situations pratiques, simples et prévisibles.

  • Compétences orales et écrites.
  • Cours en journée (mercredi matin, 2 heures par semaine)
  • Frais de formation : 50 000 F

Introduction to spoken and written French

Course description and objectives:

This course is an introduction to French Language. It is designed to enable students to understand, as well as express themselves in oral and written French with greater ease and scope. The goal of this course is to give students basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills allowing students to cope with predictable everyday topics.

Public

Foreigners living or temporarily staying in Tahiti, who would like to experience French language and develop their language skills.

Methods of Instruction

Students practice oral and written language in pairs or larger groups (max 15). Students are expected to participate actively.

Length of training

30 hours. Day or evening classes

Location

University of French Polynesia Campus.

Course outline

  • ORAL LANGUAGE
    • LISTENING: Students will demonstrate comprehension of:
      • Words, groups of words, idioms, collocations
      • Short and simple questions and answers, relating to basic everyday life.
      • Very short social exchanges, on familiar topics and activities.
    • SPEAKING: Students will demonstrate ability to :
      • Use words, groups of words and memorized phrases
      • Link basic features in short sentences
      • Interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech
      • Ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
  • WRITTEN LANGUAGE: Students will demonstrate ability to :
    • Read and write French language written form (phonetics and spelling)
    • Read and write familiar names, words and very simple sentences,
    • Understand the main ideas of a written text in simple, recurrent familiar situations
    • Find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables
    • Write simple phrases, using learned vocabulary

Certification

Certification awarded on condition of regular attendance at classes.
